You don't know you're going to meet the Cowboy. "And he'll say, 'No, no, it doesn't matter. "You'll ask him, 'If I'm here, why am I supposed to go meet the Cowboy? And who is this weird studio head?' There was no reading of scenes, no reciting of monologues, none of the typical tools an actor uses to ply his craft. So he got on the plane, and hung out with Lynch for a day. Because after the interview, he flew the 30-year-old actor from New York to his Los Angeles home. We can assume that Lynch liked what he saw.
